Tired

I am so tired and sleep is not enough to remedy the level of tiredness I am. I am sure you figured it out being that the last time I wrote a blog was June 20, 2022. In the last blog I shared my experience of Jamaica with you. I thought that my trip to Jamaica would have been the relaxation I needed to prepare for the loaded summer ahead of me.

My summer consisted of summer school and volleyball. Summer school was Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm. Volleyball was Tuesday through Thursday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Summer school was three weeks long. Volleyball session started first of school and was Monday through Thursday 4:30-7:00pm, however on game day the end time can be 8pm or longer if it's an away game. We also have tournaments on Saturdays which can be from 7am to 4pm. I start my day at 5am because I workout before I go to work. So, your girl is tired. I have not had a break or relaxation since Jamaica.

Last summer I did volleyball and was not as tired. I believe summer school was added to the equation that did it. I constantly play back advice from my Mentor, Soror, and just a beautiful soul, Mrs.K.Maxwell, “Do not do summer school Lorminey, you will be exhausted and burnt out.” Of course I did not listen. I told her I could use the money to pay off some bills. She replied, “All money is not good money.” I did not listen. When I received summer school pay the amount of taxes that came out, I was shocked. Moral of the story is next time I should listen to wise counsel. Maxwell shared her experience of when she did summer school and how tired she was when school started.

I am paying for it now for not listening to wise counsel. I am so tired that 7-8 hours of sleep does not do it. Yesterday, one of my volleyball players said Coach, you look really tired. You know it’s bad when the youngin see it. I told myself I am going to rest once the volleyball season is over and my player's comment just confirms it. Being tired stifles my creativity. It is one of the reasons I have not written a new poem, blog, or podcast. It is also spilling into my social media content creation. Whether you are a creative or not, tiring yourself is not healthy. It will impact you physically, mentally, and emotionally. If you have wise counsel and they are giving you advice do listen or you will be the fool suffering consequences. Maxwell, as you read this please know I have learned my lesson. I am grateful for you and will never take your wise counsel for granted.

Thank you to all of you who continually support me and waited patiently for the new blog and podcast.

Love Your Poet,

Zulmie
