Zulmie Da Poet
ABOUT ME
Welcome to the Zulmie Experience!
I am Marie Zulmie Lorminey. Zulmie is not a stage name or an alter ego. I was named after my grandmother Marie Zulmie Lavache-Desroches. My self-love journey was the catalyst to me evolving into Zulmie.
My Poetry saved me and allowed me to find the true love that I have been searching and desiring all of my life, Me. “Rotten Soup” is my self-love journey story in the Art form of Poetry. It is my passion, mission, and dedication to support others like me on their self-love journey to discover that the true love they seek is Self. My poetry or other services help you on your journey of self-love!
The Meaning Behind The Name
Zulmie, Zulmie, Zulmie! After, saying that I’m sure you feel the power it poses. My mother says it’s African but she cannot tell what country of origin in Africa, it comes from. However, I am Haitian. My grandmother Marie Zulmie Lavache-Desroches was born and raised in Leogane, Haiti. I, Marie Zulmie Lorminey was not blessed to be born in Haiti but I was born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island, New York, Uniondale to be exact. So, for me, Zulmie represents my Haitian roots and my connection to being as strong as my grandmother.
My first name Marie is derived from Mary. One of the widely known meanings of Mary is "sea of bitterness" or "sea of sorrow." Throughout my life, I have vacillated between bitter and sorrow. In the search for love, validation, happiness, and all the other things we seek in people always left me either bitter or sorrowful. However, there was always the spirit of Zulmie in me that did not allow my loses, pain, hurt, tragedy and all the negative obstacles or situations to be the end of my story. That Zulmie always gave me a second wind to win any obstacle, situation, setback, or tragedy.
I am and continue to fully emerge into Zulmie. So, instead of creating a Poetic stage name why not just be fully me, Zulmie. I began to research and learn what the name meant and it is completely the essence of who I am and the goddess that I am evolving into. So, I know you’re ready to the know the meaning too.
Name.org does identify Zulmie as African in origin. In my research, I could not find the African country or cultural origin of the name. Babynology.com identifies Zulmie with a French origin. Haiti has both African and French historical origins as part of its story. So, I’m not surprised. According, to Babynology.com and Kabalarians.com the meaning is powerful and numerous.
Zulmie, has the required tools to make considerable achievements in business and other positions of power. Zulmie tends to have practical judgment when it comes to money and financial issues and also has an understanding on how to build and accumulate material wealth through sensibility and management which makes her a sound person in business affairs. There is a great deal of willpower, courage, integrity, trustworthiness, and stability in her nature.
The name further means one who is ambitious, desires the best in life and appreciates quality in all things. Zulmie is artistic, creative, also a good healer, charming, intelligent, serene, generous and co-operative. Zulmie is rather aggressive, shrewd, and critical and is extremely independent. Zulmie has difficulty expressing fully the softer, more feminine qualities that should be a part of her nature. Zulmie has a strong, positive nature, that the more sensitive types of people would find it overpowering at times.
I am the epitome of Zulmie. May this information and knowledge make you love and appreciate me and my work even more. Thank you for reading this blog post and lending me your attention for a few!
Your Poet,
Zulmie

Community Reviews
"Zulmie has conducted several workshops for my program participants (high school students—TRiO Upward Bound Program) over the past four years.
Each workshop session was impactful and the students were able to express themselves and able to grow, heal and realize their “true” potential and most, of all, to recognize that they are enough.
As a result of the workshops, some of the students have begun to write poetry, journal and use their skills to assist others.
She has the ability to form an immediate rapport with students, she is a poet, but also a true educator."
Dr. Stanley,
Director of the Upward Bound Program
